How long is a NEET score valid for MBBS abroad?
Unofficial · Sources checked
For Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India, a NEET result is valid for three years from the date of declaration of the result. During those three years it entitles the candidate to pursue MBBS or an equivalent medical course, including any pre-medical or language course followed by the MBBS course. This limit is stated by the National Medical Commission (India) on its information desk page and by the FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin, which cites the Gazette notification of 14.03.2019.

What the three-year validity covers
The Gazette notification of 14.03.2019, reproduced in the FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin, states that the result of NEET "shall be valid for a period of Three (03) years from the date of declaration of result, entitling a candidate to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course."
In the text's own words, the validity covers the MBBS or equivalent medical course and also any pre-medical or language course, if there is one, that comes before the MBBS or equivalent medical course. The National Medical Commission (India) information desk page repeats the same three-year period and the same wording about the pre-medical or language course.
Graduate Medical Education criteria still apply
The NEET result is treated as the Eligibility Certificate only for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India who obtain a primary medical qualification from a medical institution outside India on or after May 2018. The FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin reminds such applicants that they are "accordingly advised to ensure that they fulfil the Eligibility Criteria for admission to the MBBS course prescribed in the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997."
Those criteria include: - the age criterion prescribed for admission to the MBBS course at the time of joining the primary medical qualification; and - the eligibility criteria for admission to MBBS in India under the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997 — the minimum qualifying marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, including the relaxed criteria for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) or a person with disability (PwD).
The bulletin states that if an applicant who qualifies FMGE is later found, at the time of seeking registration with a medical council, not to be fulfilling those Eligibility Criteria, "his / her candidature and result for said FMGE shall be deemed to be cancelled."
