How much is the FMGE exam fee?

For the October 2026 session of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), India's National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) charges an examination fee of ₹ 3,940.68 plus GST at 18% of ₹ 709.32, for a total payable of ₹ 4,650. This is an examination fee set by NBEMS for candidates sitting the FMGE; it is not a tuition, coaching or living-cost amount. The application window for that session (11 to 25 September 2026) has closed, and the bulletin is for the October 2026 session, so you must read the bulletin of the session you apply for.

How to pay
The prescribed exam fee should be remitted through the payment gateway provided, using a UPI / Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks in India or other modes as may be made available and provided on the web page. The fee cannot be deposited through any mode other than the payment gateway available while submitting the online application form.

Withdrawal, carry-forward and refund
Application forms once submitted cannot be withdrawn. The fee shall neither be carried forward to a future date nor refunded under any circumstances. Any claim for refund, adjustment or carrying forward of the application fee will not be entertained.

Checking your payment status
You should ensure the payment is successful; the confirmation appears in the application form under payment status shown as "S" (for successful). If the status shows as pending, the payment might be stuck with your bank and might be cleared at a later date. The application submission process is not completed until the payment status is reflected as "S" in the application form. NBEMS shall not be responsible for rejection of your application due to delay in settlement of the payment by your bank to NBEMS.

If you are absent or declared ineligible
Examination fees in respect of candidates who are absent or have been declared ineligible due to any reason shall be forfeited. Candidates are advised to read the screening test regulations and the information bulletin for FMGE October 2026 carefully and satisfy the terms and conditions for fulfilment of eligibility criteria before proceeding for payment of fees.

This fee is for one session
The amounts above are printed for the October 2026 session. Per chapter 2 of the same bulletin, NBEMS shall now be conducting the FMGE three times in a year; the October 2026 session's examination date is 31-10-2026, and its application window was 11 to 25 September 2026, which has closed. The reader must read the bulletin of their own session, because the fee, window and dates named here belong to the October 2026 session only.
